Autocross is unimaginable without the fans who create an atmosphere at the track like nowhere else. They play a vital role in boosting the sport's popularity, providing support to event organizers, and driving economic growth, which, in turn, attracts financial backing from the respective country. Therefore, it is crucial to understand what fans enjoyed about the 2024 season, how they envision the future development of autocross, and what suggestions they have so that we can work together to improve our sport. Read below to learn more and discover additional insights!

Adrian  Fritzsche:

"I found the 2024 season very exciting, especially in the Cross Car Division, where there were around 40 drivers at each race. The buggy 1600 class was also thrilling, making it an exciting year overall. I believe that, over time, we will see more younger drivers joining, which will make the competition even more exciting. Additionally, there will be new tracks, such as Foz Coa, debuting in 2025. I would love to see more involvement from touring cars as well."

"For me, last year was incredible just like every year, there is always such an amazing atmosphere. I noticed some development, particularly with a few more drivers in the Junior Cross Car category and a slightly larger presence of shops at each race. As for improvements, I would love to see all the autocross races broadcast live on a YouTube channel."

"I think last season was very interesting, with plenty of battles, title deciders, and nerve-wracking moments. Overall, it was a very enjoyable season.Development will always move forward, and I just hope it continues in the right direction.  It’s promising to see so many new faces entering the sport, and I hope it keeps progressing steadily. I think they should bring back TAX because it’s such an important part of the sport. That said, I believe the championship is overall well managed."

"The 2024 European autocross championship season was full of suspense, dramatic races, and outstanding performances from drivers across Europe. The championship featured balanced battles in all categories, with titles often being decided in the final races. Czech competitors once again proved to be among the best, achieving significant success. Overall, it was an exciting season that reaffirms the growing popularity of autocross in Europe.
Autocross has a bright future. The fanbase is expanding, the races are becoming more thrilling, and they are attracting a new generation of fans. The availability of online race broadcasts has made it easier for people to engage with the sport, though it’s unfortunate that some platforms have moved to paid models. I hope the FIA listens to the drivers so that everyone can enjoy the races to the fullest. Additionally, I’d like to see the return of the old divisions, as some of the newer, less popular ones are replacing them, especially with many great drivers leaving Autocross."

"I think the 2024 European Autocross Championship was incredibly exciting for both drivers and spectators. It’s always thrilling to watch and cheer, especially for drivers from your own country. The battles on the track, particularly between Ivan Pina and David Meat for the championship title, were astonishing. It’s amazing how these drivers handle their cars—drivers like Nathan Ottink and so many others truly impress me. Personally, I’m in awe. As a photographer, it’s always a joy to stand close to the track and capture those incredible moments. I’m already excited for the next season!
As for the future of autocross, that’s a tough question. I think it might lean toward hybrid technology, or perhaps even electric cars in the very distant future. But honestly, I have no idea where the sport is heading. The most important thing is that the basic principles of autocross remain intact.
From my perspective as a viewer and photographer, it’s hard to suggest improvements. However, as a spectator, it’s always nice to have a live stream available for races that are too far away to attend in person. I wouldn’t mind paying a few euros for it—as long as it works properly. I think that’s something everyone would appreciate."

Marco Caronelli:

"I think the 2024 European Autocross Championship was incredibly exciting and packed with thrilling duels. Race days were always enjoyable, thanks in part to the many friendships formed within the paddock. Looking ahead, I envision the sport growing in every aspect—featuring increasingly powerful and spectacular machines, more distinctive and well-maintained tracks, and more organized and professional teams. The fans play a significant role as well; it’s always heartwarming to see people cheering passionately for their favorite drivers. One improvement I’d love to see is the inclusion of more countries in the championship. However, with the 2025 calendar showing promising developments in this regard, I feel optimistic about the future."

Considering the opinions about the past season, we can conclude that the 2024 season was exciting and emotionally charged for fans, receiving largely positive feedback. However, there are aspects that could enhance the appeal of autocross. For instance, many fans hope for the return of the popular Touring Car class and the creation of a platform to watch autocross live. Let’s hope these ideas will someday be heard and brought to life, as people desire powerful cars in autocross and the ability to watch live broadcasts from anywhere in the world!
