Ares Lahoz lights up Bauska with first podium in CrossCar category!

Round 2 of the FIA European Autocross Championship delivered unforgettable action at one of the sport’s most iconic venues – the legendary Mūsa Raceland in Bauska, Latvia. The historic circuit once again played host to a thrilling showdown, tightening the overall standings and setting the stage for an unpredictable championship fight.
Super Buggy: Theuil Seizes the Moment in a Dramatic Upset
French driver Robert Theuil delivered the shock of the weekend, rising above the established favourites with a masterclass performance. After setting the pace in timed practice, Theuil maintained his composure throughout the event and capped the weekend with a sensational victory in the final.
Equally impressive was Zdeněk Antony, who charged from the third row to clinch a hard-earned second place. Local hero Ervins Grencis had the home crowd on their feet as he battled for the lead, only to be hampered by a gearbox issue, ultimately settling for third place.
Meanwhile, top contenders Petr Nikodém and Bernd Stubbe were both caught in final incidents that forced them out of contention, finishing a disappointing 8th and 9th respectively.
Buggy 1600: Kobras Strikes Gold as Van Der Putten Recovers from Spectacular Crash
The Buggy 1600 class lived up to its reputation for thrilling, edge-of-your-seat action. Remo Kobras proved unstoppable in Bauska, showcasing pace and consistency to secure a dominant win.
Dutchman Bart Van Der Putten stole headlines after surviving a dramatic rollover in the semi-final that brought out the red flags. Given a second chance in the restart, he delivered a stunning comeback to claim second place in the final.
Jakub Novotný bounced back from a dismal outing in Seelow to take third, while Danny Van Den Berg, still leading the overall championship, impressed with a strong fourth-place finish on a track known to challenge his buggy specifics.
Junior Buggy: Feuillade Unstoppable in Flawless Performance
It was a weekend of absolute dominance for Malone Feuillade in the Junior Buggy category. The rising French star was unbeaten in all three heats, cruised through the semi-final, and put on a clinic in the final to seal a commanding victory.
Czech driver Martin Kolomý pushed hard and kept the pressure on, earning a well-deserved second place after an exciting battle with Feuillade. Third place went to fellow Czech talent Eliška Plná, who impressed with both pace and determination.
CrossCar: Meat Edges Pina in High-Stakes Duel, Ares Lahoz Grabs First Podium
The intense rivalry between David Meat and Iván Piña Chinchilla continued in full force in Bauska. This time, it was Meat who had the upper hand, fending off Piña in a strategic and hard-fought final to claim victory.
The biggest celebration of the day came from Ares Lahoz Rubio, the charismatic Spanish racer, who secured her first-ever CrossCar podium by snatching third place in an incredibly competitive field an emotional and well-earned achievement after a series of close calls this season.
Looking Ahead: Next Stop – Nyirád, Hungary
A massive thank you goes to the organizers of the Bauska round for delivering a spectacular and flawlessly run event. The 2025 European Autocross Championship now heads to Nyirád, Hungary, for Round 3 this weekend where the battle for the title will only get fiercer.
