L'ITALIA CHIAMO', READY FOR THE SHOW IN MAGGIORA!

05 September 2025, Ronalds

The FIA European Autocross Championship heads to Italy for Round 7 on September 13–14, 2025. The continent’s best drivers will converge on the iconic Maggiora Offroad Arena for another fantastic weekend across five categories: SuperBuggy, Buggy1600, Junior Buggy, CrossCar, and Junior CrossCar.

Track History & Highlights

Maggiora Offroad Arena, nestled in the hills of Novara province, is Italy’s temple of autocross. First opened in 1971 as the Autodromo di Pragiarolo, it quickly earned international recognition as the country’s first permanent autocross track. Over the decades it has hosted countless European Autocross Championship rounds, building a reputation as one of the most demanding and spectacular venues in the FIA European Autocross Championship calendar.

Track Specifications:

Class by Class: What to Expect in Maggiora

Junior CrossCar: A Champion Will Be Crowned

Last season in Maggiora, the entire Junior CrossCar podium was taken by drivers who are not competing this year – Diego Martinez Gonzalez, Daniel Gayoso Vazquez, and Lucas Cartelle. The highest finisher among current contenders was Germany’s Henri Haaf.

This season, Haaf is joined by the ever-fast Spanish trio – Oscar Fuertes Hernandez, Abel Gonzalez Vial, and Iago Rodriguez Lopez – as well as Belgium’s Jordan Genten, who is always a threat. Since Maggiora marks the final round for this category, the Junior CrossCar champion will be crowned here.

Current Standings (after 6 rounds):

1. Oscar Fuertes Hernandez – 127 pts

2. Abel Gonzalez Vial – 113 pts

3. Iago Rodriguez Lopez – 107 pts

CrossCar: Unexpected Surprises on the Horizon

In 2024, Maggiora shocked the CrossCar world as Frenchman Nicolas Langhendries stole victory, while favorites David Meat and Ivan Pina Chinchilla were left off the top step. Could we see another upset this year?

With Meat and Pina dominating most of the season, all eyes will be on whether a new challenger can break through again – or will the familiar names reclaim their throne?

Current Standings (after 6 rounds):

1. David Meat – 160 pts

2. Ivan Pina Chinchilla – 151 pts

3. Yoann Gillouin – 139 pts

Junior Buggy: The Czech–French Rivalry

Junior Buggy is the most dynamic category, with driver lineups shifting each season as talents graduate to Buggy1600 or CrossCar. This means past results offer little guidance. Instead, we look at the current title fight:

Ladislav Hanak leads the standings and will spearhead a strong Czech charge in Maggiora. But France’s Malone Feuillade, who knows the track well and has shown blistering pace here before, is determined to spoil the party.

Current Standings (after 6 rounds):

1. Ladislav Hanak – 151 pts

2. Malone Feuillade – 142 pts

3. Martin Kolomy – 139 pts

Buggy1600: The Duel of Titans

In 2024, Maggiora saw Thomas Anacleto victorious, followed by Mervin Klaasssen and Markus Wibbeler. This year, however, the championship picture suggests a duel between Jakub Novotny and Rene Mandel – both determined to leave everything on the track. Still, surprises are always possible, and an outsider could rise to challenge the favorites.

Current Standings (after 6 rounds):

1. Jakub Novotny – 153 pts

2. Rene Mandel – 136 pts

3. Damien Crepeau – 103 pts

Super Buggy: Clash of Giants

Last season, Maggiora delivered a shocker in Super Buggy, with Latvian Ervins Grencis taking victory ahead of Zdenek Antony and Mike Bartelen. This time, the spotlight is on Petr Nikodem and Zdenek Antony as they battle for every point – each one critical in their championship duel.

Current Standings (after 6 rounds):

1. Petr Nikodem – 141 pts

2. Zdenek Antony – 136 pts

3. Robert Theuil – 128 pts
