Euro AX Super Buggy Pre-Season Analysis

7 April 2025, Ronalds

This time, we have reached the most legendary class in autocross the Super Buggy category. As we look back on the 2024 season and with the new season fast approaching, let's explore some of the most exciting aspects of the upcoming championship.

Looking at last season, the battle for the championship title was between two lightning-fast Czech drivers Zdeněk Antony and Petr Nikoděm. However, Zdeněk showed remarkable progress compared to his 2023 performance, securing his first, ever title in the prestigious Super Buggy class. That said, it's worth noting that Nikoděm faced frequent technical issues, which made him less competitive than in previous years. Even Petr himself summed up his 2024 season in just three words at the FIA Prize Giving: "Could be better." We couldn't agree more, and we hope 2025 will bring better fortune!

Now, as we shift our focus to the 2025 season, there's no doubt that the main contenders for the Super Buggy title remain Antony and Nikoděm. The latter has built a brand-new chassis for his buggy, and it will be interesting to see how that translates into results. However, there's a major twist, ten-time European champion Bernd Stubbe is making his return to autocross with a Peters buggy. It is almost certain that he will be fighting at the front and might even challenge the two Czech drivers for the title.

While Antony, Nikoděm, and Stubbe are the top favorites based on the current outlook, we can’t ignore other strong competitors like Robert Theuil, Mike Bartelen, and more. Surprises are always possible after all, the winter break was long, and every driver has been working behind closed doors, fine-tuning their buggies.

Could we be in for a thrilling season where three champions from different eras go head-to-head for the title? Time will tell, but we certainly hope so! See you at the first round of the European Championship in Seelow, Germany do not miss it!
