The European SHOW returns to Prerov!
20 August 2025, Ronalds
The FIA European Autocross Championship returns to the Czech Republic for Round 6 on August 23–24, 2025. The continent’s top drivers will battle on the famed Cross Arena Přerovská Rokle (Přerov Gorge) in the so called Valley of Mammoths across five adrenaline-fueled classes: SuperBuggy, Buggy1600, Junior Buggy, CrossCar and Junior CrossCar.
Track History & Highlights
Cross Arena Přerov sits in a forested canyon just north of Přerov. This storied venue – located in the “Valley of Mammoths” (famous for prehistoric mammal fossils – hosted its first European Autocross Championship race in 1998 and remains a championship staple. It features several signature elements:
Historic venue: Přerovská Rokle is one of Europe’s oldest autocross tracks. Decades of national races were held here before the first FIA European Autocross round in 1998
Mammoth Jump: The track’s layout includes a famous high jump nicknamed the “Mammoth.” Spectators flock to see cars launching off this ridge – Prerov’s “celebrated ‘mammoth’ jump” – making for spectacular airborne action.
Valley of Mammoths: The circuit lies in a deep canyon known locally as Přerov Gorge or the Valley of Mammoths – a nod to nearby paleolithic mammoth-bone finds. This gives the track its unique nickname and dramatic scenery.
Biggest Elevation: At 42 m, Přerov has the largest vertical drop of any European championship circuit. This huge elevation change (and fast, flowing clay surface) makes Přerov one of the fastest tracks, yet it also features a few “heart stopping” blind crests and fast turns that test even the best drivers.
Track Specifications
• Length: 1,000 m
• Width: 18 m at the narrowest point, 20 m at the widest.
• Surface: 100% natural clay/dirt, which develops deep ruts and traction changes as races progress.
• Turns: 7 total (5 left-hand turns and 2 right-hand).
• Elevation change: ~42 m of vertical drop from highest to lowest point
Class by Class: What to Expect in Prerov
Since the FIA European Autocross Championship skipped Přerov in the 2024 season, let’s take a look back at the standout performers from 2023—and explore what thrilling battles we can expect this year!
Rising Stars of Junior CrossCar
With the field having dramatically shifted over the past two years, the Junior CrossCar class is wide open in Přerov. Back in 2023, known at the time as the CrossCar Academy Trophy, it was Diego Martínez González who claimed victory here, but he has since moved up to the senior CrossCar category. This season, all eyes will be on the Spanish trio—Óscar Fuertes Hernández, Abel González Vial, and Iago Rodríguez López—who currently occupy the top three positions in the standings. Still, with the majority of drivers tackling Přerov’s demanding circuit for the very first time, there’s every chance we’ll see some surprising results.
CrossCar Heavyweights Set for a Showdown
In 2023, French star David Meat reigned supreme at Přerov, and once again he’ll be battling for glory—this time alongside fellow title contenders Iván Piña Chinchilla and Yoann Gillouin. Fans can expect this trio to put on another thrilling display as the championship fight intensifies. Yet the home crowd won’t be silent, with Czech challengers like Petr Doležal, Tomáš Svoboda, Lukáš Svoboda, Tomáš Sulek, and others all ready to fight their way into the top positions.
Junior Buggy: Czech Talents Take Center Stage
2023 season, victory went to Arnošt Florian, who has since moved up to Buggy 1600. In 2025, however, the Junior Buggy spotlight is likely to shine on the Czech hopefuls—Ladislav Hanák, Martin Kolomý, Eliška Plná, and more. With a fiercely competitive field, one thing is certain: the battles in Přerov will be intense, and no position will be handed over easily.
Buggy1600: Home Advantage for the Czechs?
German driver Steven Laubach claimed the Přerov victory in 2023, with current championship leader Jakub Novotný finishing just off the podium in fourth. This year, Novotný returns as a strong favorite, joined by his Czech compatriots Arnošt Florian, Václav Kindl, and Filip Durt. Adding more international flavor to the fight, German driver René Mandel is also expected to be in the mix, ready to challenge the local heroes on their home soil. With such a stacked lineup, the Buggy1600 class promises door-to-door action and perhaps a new name on the winners’ list.
SuperBuggy: The Kings Return to Přerov
When Europe’s premier class last thundered through Přerov, it was Petr Nikodém who stood tall on the top step. In 2025, the Czech ace is once again locked in a championship duel with compatriot Zdeněk Antony, ensuring the home fans will have plenty to cheer for. But the threat doesn’t stop there: Frenchman Robert Theuil has emerged as a serious contender, fresh off a stunning victory in Nová Paka and another dominant win at a Czech Championship round in Poříčí just weeks ago. Add to that the presence of Bernd Stubbe, the ten-time European Champion currently sitting fourth in the standings, and the SuperBuggy showdown promises to be nothing short of spectacular.
