REPORT MUSA FIA EUROPEAN AUTOCROSS & CROSSCAR 2026
Musa hosts the second round of the season.
Last weekend in Latvia, Musa hosted the second round of the FIA European Autocross and Cross Car Championship, as well as the opening round of the European Junior Cross Car Championship. It was a perfect weekend for motorsports enthusiasts: summer weather, a large crowd, and intense racing that provided thrills in all categories.
The Cross Car category confirmed its extraordinary growth and extremely high level of competition. Good participation was also seen in the 1600 Buggy classes, while the SuperBuggy field was slightly smaller, thanks to the particularly demanding championship schedule, which features twelve rounds this year.
Junior Cross Car: Greek win in season debut
Greek driver Iliopoulos, driving the LifeLive TN11, won the first round of the European Junior Cross Car Championship.
He was followed by Italian Bernardo Bitti of the Rapace Factory Team, who delivered a solid performance that earned him a valuable second place. Completing the podium was Latvian home-grown driver Kozlovskis, greeted by the enthusiastic local crowd.
Senior Cross Car: Meat scores a double
David Meat's dominance continues in the premier Cross Car category. After his success at Seelow, the Speedcar driver also took victory at Musa, securing an extraordinary double in the first two races of the season.
Second place went to Spaniard Iván Piña Chinchilla, who, after a difficult debut in Germany, scored his first podium of the season, collecting important championship points and reviving his title ambitions.
Third place went to Vincent Mercier, also in a Speedcar, who earned his second consecutive podium thanks to a consistent and convincing performance.
Junior Buggy: Eliska Plna makes a strong return
In the Junior Buggy category, there was no contest. Plna dominated the weekend, winning everything there was to win and setting a high pace for his rivals.
Ladislav Hanák finished second, having staged a stunning comeback after a heavy crash on Sunday morning. Third place went to Lunak, who earned his first European podium thanks to his impressive speed throughout the weekend. This result suggests a leading role in the upcoming events.
Buggy 1600: Feuillade takes his first victory
The 1600 Buggies proved to be one of the most spectacular categories of the weekend, with continuous duels and close racing until the final corner.
The victory went to Frenchman Malone Feuillade, who delivered an exceptional performance that earned him his first European win in the category.
Second place went to René Mandel, who, despite a complicated weekend and several problems, managed to mount an extraordinary comeback to the podium.
Nathan Notting, driving his Peters Autosport, completed the podium, putting in a solid and consistent performance.
SuperBuggy: Van Asten Still Leads
Despite a smaller field than the other categories, the SuperBuggy level remained extremely high, with extremely competitive cars and highly experienced drivers.
Dutchman Teun van Astel once again took the lead, repeating his success from the first round and securing his second consecutive victory of the season. With this result, Van Asten consolidates his championship lead and confirms himself as the man to beat.
Second place went to Petr Nikodém, who had a positive weekend despite some difficulty finding the right feeling with his car.
Third place went to Robert Theuil, who earned his first podium of the season at the wheel of the new Alfa Racing turbo, thus capping a weekend full of satisfaction.
See you next weekend at Vilkyciai in Lithuania for round three!
