Round 8 coming to beautiful SAINT IGNY!

17 September 2025, Ronalds

The FIA European Autocross Championship heads to France for Round 8 on September 20–21, 2025. The continent’s best will gather at the iconic Circuit de la Brosse in Saint-Igny-de-Vers, deep in the Beaujolais hills, for two days of spectacular racing across four action-packed categories: SuperBuggy, Buggy1600, Junior Buggy, CrossCar

History & Highlights

The Saint-Igny-de-Vers circuit, known locally as La Brosse, is a jewel of French autocross. Racing in this small Beaujolais village began back in 1969 on a modest 400-meter dirt course at “Le Plotron,” where thousands of fans packed the hillsides to watch the new sport in action. By 1975, the competition had shifted to its current location at La Brosse, where the venue has grown into one of the most beloved stops on the European calendar. For more than a decade, Saint-Igny has hosted rounds of the FIA European Autocross Championship, earning its reputation as a must-see event for fans and drivers alike.

A Beaujolais Classic: Beyond its technical challenge, the circuit’s setting in the rolling Beaujolais countryside gives the event a unique charm, combining motorsport adrenaline with the atmosphere of a traditional French racing festival.

Class by Class: What to Expect in Saint-Igny-de-Vers

CrossCar

In 2024, the CrossCar category at the Saint-Igny-de-Vers circuit was an all-French affair. Olivier Barre claimed victory, followed by David Meat in second and Valentin Comte in third, completing a tricolor podium sweep. The question for 2025 remains—will French dominance continue, or can Spain’s Ivan Pina Chinchilla, a strong title contender, challenge their supremacy? All eyes will be on whether he can disrupt the seemingly unshakable French control.

Junior Buggy

Last season, Martin Kolomy stormed to victory in Saint-Igny-de-Vers. With the European Championship crown within his reach this year, the Czech driver must collect every possible point on this circuit to keep his title dream alive. Yet the challenge won’t be easy—local hero Malone Feuillade is notoriously quick here. If his buggy holds up, he poses a real threat not only for the race win but also for Kolomy’s championship ambitions. Of course, several other rising talents are waiting in the wings, ready to upset the favorites. Sunday’s results will tell the story.

Buggy 1600

While France ruled CrossCar in 2024, the Buggy 1600 category had a Dutch flavor. Ricardo Otto took a commanding win, with compatriot Rudy Van Buren in second, and former Junior Buggy champion (2022–2023) Arnost Florian securing third. For 2025, however, predicting a winner is nearly impossible. At least five drivers appear capable of reaching the top step, making this one of the most unpredictable categories of the weekend.

Super Buggy

Last year, the Super Buggy class showcased a different kind of dominance—not national, but technical. The entire top four drove Alfa Racing Factory Team buggies, underlining the manufacturer’s superiority. Leading the charge was Frenchman Robert Theuil, followed by Zdenek Antony, Johnny Feuillade, and Florent Tafani. The question for 2025: can anyone break Alfa Racing’s iron grip on the category, or will their buggies once again prove untouchable? Stay tuned to find out who conquers the Saint-Igny-de-Vers battlefield this season.
