Danny Van Den Berg about his Autocross experience

"Overall, I'm happy to have finished in the top 10 in my first European season, which was my goal — unless we had a lot of bad luck this year. I think the qualifying was the most successful part for me, as it is similar to karting, where you have very few laps to find the limit. I believe I can improve on consistency, especially in the heats. Since the 1600 class is very competitive, it is crucial to be at the front in every heat if you want to reach the final.

This year, I had some crashes, and when that happens, it becomes very difficult to fight back to the front. For example, in Seelow and Matschenberg, I started every heat at the front and finished all heats in the top 2. This made it much easier to achieve a good result in the final, as I finished on the podium in both of those events. In contrast, at St. Georges, I had to start from the 3rd row in the heats, which made it very difficult to reach the final.

The highlight of the season was definitely Seelow, where we took the win. Everything fell into place that weekend. The speed was there from the beginning, with P2 in qualifying, which gave me a lot of confidence in the car. During the heats, we improved the car even further, and fortunately, we managed to win both the semi-final and the final.

My plan for the 2025 season is normally drive a full season again with Breederland Autosport. We are currently working hard to improve the car more for the upcoming season. Also in the winter I am training on the simulator where we drive a online Autocross  championship with a group people from the Autocross. Where we drive on all tracks of the european Autocross calendar with different cars like the Crosscar and Buggy 4x4. This is a nice way to stay sharp and have some "tracktime” which is limited in the real world. The ultimate goal is to have fun and we go for a top 3 finish in the championship. However this will not be easy in a competitive field like the buggy 1600."

Good luck in the 2025 season!
