LAST DANCE IN PORTUGAL!

16 October 2025, Ronalds

The climax of the 2025 FIA European Autocross Championship will take place on October 17–19, 2025, in Portugal as Round 10 roars into Foz Côa. After a long absence from the European calendar (the championship has not raced here since 2011), Eurocircuito de Foz Côa will host Europe’s top autocross drivers on a track fully revitalized and ready for high-stakes competition.

Track Background & Rebirth

Nestled in the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, this circuit has undergone significant upgrades to meet the demands of an FIA European round. According to local sources, the municipality invested around €120,000 in circuit rehabilitation and safety enhancements ahead of this return.  The competition marks a revival of high-level international autocross after over a decade.  Local organizers partnered with the Portuguese Automobile and Karting Federation (FPAK) to ensure facility readiness and regulatory compliance.

Circuit Upgrades

In preparation for 2025, the circuit has been rebuilt under a major municipal-led program.  Crews cut and removed scrub, cleared trees, re-leveled the trackbed and reinforced earth embankments.  Concrete barriers and safety fencing have been upgraded, and even the starting grid was repaved to ensure solid traction under the launch.  Local officials note that the renovated Eurocircuito now meets all international homologation requirements – a far cry from its prior overgrown state – and can even host other forms of motorsport in future.

Considering that the FIA European Autocross Championship last visited Foz Côa back in 2011, most of today’s drivers have never competed on this Portuguese circuit. This means the season finale will be especially thrilling, as every competitor faces the challenge of mastering an unfamiliar track.

Adding to the excitement, none of the four categories racing in Foz Côa have crowned their champions yet. And with the Grand Final format in place, the usual championship points will be multiplied by a 1.5 coefficient — giving those just behind the leaders a golden opportunity to fight for the title right to the very end.
