DANNY VAN DEN BERG / BUGGY 1600 / WINNER AT SEELOW
YOUNG DUTCHMAN WINS EVERYTHING IN SEELOW!
23 May 2025, Ronalds
After clinching a second consecutive victory, Danny Van Den Berg reflects on a surreal weekend in Seelow overcoming fierce competition to take the win. With eyes now on the challenging rounds ahead, the Breederland Autosport driver shares his thoughts on mindset, and momentum.
What went through your mind as you crossed the finish line — winning in Seelow for the second time in a row? Did you expect this result?
It was amazing to win for the second time in a row. The realization came a day later, as I was not feeling very well and was a bit sick on Sunday. It felt a bit unreal after the final. We really didn’t expect to win here, as our main target was to reach the final and see what happened from there. Of course, we knew we had a good chance, as the speed was good last year and the track suits me well, but the field is very competitive this year with around 15 drivers all capable of winning. Thanks to Proflex suspension, everything felt good from the beginning, as we had a great car setup in both wet and dry conditions.
Which of the remaining rounds do you see as the biggest challenge, and why?
The remaining round that I see as the biggest challenge will be Bauska and Přerov. In Bauska, it always helps to have a lot of power. Because we drive with 1300cc, we have a bit less power than most drivers. On some tracks, this works to our advantage, and on others, not so much. Another big challenge will be Přerov, which will be my first time driving there!
We will approach the rest of the season race by race. The most important thing is to have fun, and of course, we will try to be at the front in every race. In a competitive field like this, anything can happen, and it is very difficult to make predictions.
What would you like to say to your team and fans after such a strong start to the season?
I want to give my team, Breederland Autosport, a big thank you for the hard work and for giving me a great car. Without them, this would never have been possible. It was great to win in Seelow as everyone was there! The atmosphere in Seelow is always fantastic, and there are always a lot of motorsport fans. There are very few places where you get to drive with 150 buggies through a city!
AX MAGAZINE ITALIA thanks Danny for his insights following the Seelow round!
